🚀 Excited to Share My Initial Roadmap for My Doctorate in Educational Technology (DET) at Central Michigan University! 🚀
I recently presented an initial roadmap to my program chair and professors, outlining my plan to use the data science life cycle to develop an AI-driven behavioral intervention system. This system is designed to support educators with real-time, data-driven strategies to enhance engagement and outcomes for autistic students. Here’s a snapshot of my journey:
1️⃣ Problem Definition: Define intervention goals and metrics to identify behavioral signs of disengagement, enabling timely educator support.
2️⃣ Data Collection: Collaborate with autism research centers and local special education programs, with supplemental data from public sources like NIH’s NDAR.
3️⃣ Data Exploration & Preprocessing: Clean, analyze, and transform engagement and behavioral data into actionable features to predict disengagement.
4️⃣ Model Development: Build predictive models to identify early signs of disengagement and recommend tailored interventions.
5️⃣ Testing & Refinement: Pilot the system in educational settings, gathering real-world feedback to refine the model.
6️⃣ Deployment & Monitoring: Integrate into educational platforms, monitor performance, and adapt based on ongoing feedback.
7️⃣ Documentation & Reporting: Capture insights and create a comprehensive report to communicate the system’s impact on autism education.
This roadmap is an initial guide and subject to change—because without a map, you never know where you’ll end up! Stay tuned for updates as I work through each phase of my DET journey.
